Reopening your coworking space? How to encourage people to come back

Over the past year, many businesses had to close down for the sake of public safety. Now, things are beginning to open up again. While that is a wonderful thing, it also comes along with the challenge of getting people to come back to your business.

Define health and safety policies for your coworking space

One of the main concerns people have right now is about their health and safety. In some cases, they may use this as a reason not to return to work. To encourage them to return, you need to be clear about what policies you have in place to protect them. This can include having policies about wearing masks or social distancing. Prove to your coworkers that you are making their safety a priority. On the other hand, you may encounter people who don’t want to comply. You need to be very clear about what your policies are and how you are going to enforce them. On average, people need to see a message between 7-20 times before it sinks in, which means posting signs reminding people of your policies may be one of the best moves you can make. If it is applicable, you should also make patrons of your business aware of your policies.

Let people know your coworking space is open

Not all businesses have followed the same procedures. Some businesses may have reduced services, and some may have closed altogether. This can lead to uncertainty as people might not know where every business is at. If your business was closed for some time, make it known that you are open again. You can create advertisements letting people know your business is open again. If you have a physical location, put out a nice, big sign. Post updates on your website. If you have an email list, send out a notification. Get creative as you find ways to let people know you are open again.

Be flexible and adjust to your coworking members

As you reopen your business, you should remember the importance of being flexible. No matter how much planning you do, plans are subject to change. While reopening, you might notice certain behaviors. You need to do your best to adjust to these behaviors. Doing so will help you better serve your customers and your employees. It’s also a good idea to maintain an understanding tone as you welcome people back.

Now that things are beginning to calm down, people are more comfortable returning to businesses. If you feel it is time your business reopens, do your best to maintain safety and get the word out to everyone.
